What Runes means in its world
Runes connect Elden Ring's open world to a simple survival question: spend the total now, or take it somewhere more dangerous. They pay for levels at a Site of Grace and also cover merchant purchases, smithing work and many practical upgrades.
Like other FromSoftware currencies, they are dropped on death and can be recovered once. A farming location may suit one build or stage of progress but should never replace checking the risks on the route back.
