What Coins means in its world
Mario coins are easy to recognize but do not have one fixed role across the series. In a classic side-scroller, collecting one hundred commonly earns an extra life; in later games, coins can also buy clothing, hints, power-ups or access to an activity.
That difference is why a coin route should always name its game. A hidden line of coins can signal a safe jump, a secret block or the path through a dangerous section, even when the total has little economic value.
